WHAT'S NEW? Edwards Double Blessing at Golden Rule Plaza Tuesday, March 15, 2011
They say that good things come in twos, and at Golden Rule Plaza, the Edwards twins are no exception! These two gentlemen started their life with a party and haven’t stopped since. Born on Thanksgiving Day–right in the middle of the turkey dinner—their mother always said that their entrance to the world “didn’t interrupt a thing! The party just kept on going!” Around the Plaza, they are known for their positive attitude and sage perspective on life, not to mention exceptional dancing skills. As Property Manager Stephanie Smith noted, “At all of our events, Mr. Edwards…[I guess that means both!] he got a step and a half! He’s got smooth moves!” Born just 15 minutes apart in Ashe County, North Carolina, Framous and Frazier Edwards were (respectively) second- and third-born in a family of 7 children. The family moved to Washington DC when the twins were three years old, and they have called DC home ever since. After graduating high school in 1950, they both enlisted in the Army and served for two years, before going on to work for the U.S. Government – Frazier as a Document Examiner at the USDA, and Framous worked in Property Management Contracts. In 2006, Frazier moved into Golden Rule Plaza and found it to be a perfect fit. Not only was he surrounded by others of his own age group, but there was a generally positive attitude in the atmosphere about the place that he fell in love with. After a few visits to his brother’s new digs, Framous found himself drawn to the Plaza too. He says that the Plaza’s magnetic pull grew even stronger after his initial communication with the staff. “It was just beautiful! Good communication makes all the difference in where you want to live. It can really change everything about your life….and that’s why I am here.” Both brothers delight in lively discussions with other residents and the positive spiritual attitude that pervades the Plaza. When asked how they enjoyed life as identical twins, they both responded, nearly in unison – “It’s wonderful!” As Frazier explained, “it’s more than being twins – we are best friends. We never – ever – fight or argue.” Framous chimed in, “We are told… there is such a thing as jealousy, but we don’t understand it,” as his twin nodded in full agreement. They joked about times when friends or colleagues mixed them up, but insist that they have never intentionally played a trick on someone by swapping places. Both men have a contagious sense of contentment and an upbeat attitude toward life, and Golden Rule Plaza is doubly blessed to have them. I think they spoke in unison again when I asked them for any closing comments, and they said, “Life is beautiful!
