Financial Workshop Benefits CPM Residents
Monday, December 03, 2012
CPM residents in North Philadelphia have the opportunity to participate in a class called Framework for Building Your Financial House.
Designed by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA), the class is intended to help tenants identify and achieve their financial goals. Major points covered in the course include investing in yourself, maximizing earnings, sensible spending, saving and building up assets, weathering financial storms, and borrowing wisely to grow assets.

After just three classes, the comments from the residents confirmed the relevance of the class:
"Love it! This brings back things I used to know–making money work for me… Also, meeting people and sharing information.”
And, “I forgot so much of what needs to be happening with me financially, i.e. what to do now that I am not working. This helps me understand. Also meeting great people, it’s a nice class.”
Taught by Holly Chase, PHFA Financial Education Officer, the course began in September of 2012 and will wrap up in May of 2013. CPM’s Resident Services Manager, Kay Ray, helps facilitate the monthly meetings, which are held on the campus of Temple University.
